Galena aldermen reschedule meeting

Residents waiting to hear discussion of city hall business and hoping for resolution of the parking ordinance in Galena will have to wait until Friday, July 12 at 7 p.m.

City Hall’s open meeting was initially scheduled for Monday, July 8 at 5 p.m., and was canceled citing no quorum. The third item for discussion on the posted agenda was listed the parking ordinance for downtown Galena. Changes made to parking spaces by city council last year together with 2 hour parking signs added recently were challenged by Dynatek Labs, a business on the square during the June, 24 city hall meeting. Discussion of the controversial parking ordinance was tabled for the next meeting.

Galena City Collector Carmen Malloy told the Stone County Republican the reason for calling no quorum.

“Two out of four aldermen were unable to attend the meeting. The meeting has been rescheduled for Friday, July 12th at 7 pm,” Malloy said.
